DEATH OF BARTTELOT AND JAMIESON. (l)l' ELEOTHIC TKI.KGHAI'H.—COrVIUCHT). London', September 21. Information has been received from Central Africa that Mr Jamieson, who succeeded Major Barttelot in command of the relief party, died from fever at Banzalas on August 7. Major Barttelot, in a letter written before his death, expressed distrust of the chief Tippoo Til), and news now received from the Congo confirms his treachery. The general opinion in Central Africa is that it will !)o impossible to send any fresh aid to Stanley by way of the Congo. LeUers received from the Congo predicted the murder of Major Barttelot. The latter is alleged to have treated the men under him in an overhearing manner. Although there was no necessity to apprehend short supplies, the Major placed the party on starvation allowance, while the officers were abundantly provided with food, even to waste. Her Majesty has sent a letter of condolence to Alajor Barttelot's father.
