TE AROHA

General News.— Since the Town Board elections our township has been very quiet, nothing worthy of record having transpired. Waiorongomai lias completely eclipsed km during tlie last week, as a most successful Fancy dress Ball took place there on Wednesday last, and on Saturday a pood programme of Athletic Sports was gone through with. Altogether they evince much more vitality and energy in catering for amusement than we can display.—On Thursday next a concert and dance will take place in the Te Aroha public Hall in aid of the funds of the Catholic Church. The fact that the indefatigable Mr G. Paes has the affair in hand is a sufficient guarantee that it will bo a success, and those who patronise it will bo well provided for.

New Buildings. — The contractors, Messrs Heathcote and West, are making good progress with Mr Edward's new shop, the frame being up. The body of the main building is larger than the body of our Publie Hall, and when completed will make a substantial improvement to the appearance of Whitaker-street. Domain Tennis Courts.—The fine weather is being thoroughly utilised by those having the formation of the new court in hand, and they are making good progress.
