FIRE AT ALEXANDRA

The Native Office Destroyed. (OWN COIUIKSI'ON DBNT). The house used as a Xativo Otfico hern, was burned down at about 1 p.m. on Saturday last. Fortunately, Mr (i. T. Wilkinson, the Native Agent, was in tho settlement, and succeeded, with tho assistance of some of the settlers, in saving the whole of the Government papers, furniture, etc., that the building contained. The cause of the accident was a fire in tho fnrzß near by, which has now noarly taken possession of the settlement. A strong wind blew some sparks on the shingles which caught fire, and owing to their inflammability and the house an old one (originally intended for a Maori Hospital), it was soon entirely consumed. _____
