TE AROHA.
Town* Board Meeting,—At the general meeting of the Board, on the 13th inst, the chairman read a copy of a letter sent by him to the Minister of Lands, in accordance with a resolution passed at a public meeting, in reference to land tenure. A letter was read from the Tauranga County Council, asking the Board to use its influence to induce Mr E. Y. Cox, of Shaftesbury, to forego his claim to compensation, and to allow Thompson's track to run through his paddocks. The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr Cox, asking if any arrangement had been come to upon the matter. A letter was received from Mr England, asking for a share of the Board's advertising on behalf of the Te Aroha Gazette. It was decided that a price bo asked for all advertising required during the Board's term of office, and the lowe.~t bo accepted.
Skkiol's Charge.—A letter was received from Mr ,1. Mills, drawing attention to a breach of the "Local Bodies Contracts Act " by Mr Ilott, a member of the Hoard. The letter caused c msiderable discussion. The chairman said " I think as is admitted by Mr Mills there was 110 member who knowing permitted an illegal act to be committed ; it is entirely a matter between Mr Ilott and Mr Mills.'' Commissioner Ilott. "Itis a serious charge, and should ii"t be passed lightly over." Commissioner Ilo'chin. "We know that several amounts have been paid to Brett and Co., but whether Mr Ilott is a part owner or not, we cant say." Commissioner Gavin : "I, myself did not know that such an Act was in existence, but if the law lias been broken we should thank Mr Mills courteously for drawing our attention to the risk we were incurring." Com. Ilott: "If Mr Mills wishes to try and recover the " tenner" from some one, let him try me." Com. Frazer : " I knew the Act prevented a member from doing anything undor pay from the lioard, audi so did Com. Hotchin, as we referred to it for another matter, which we had to let go, but I do not know if there is any partnership between Brett and Co. and Mr Ilott."—On the motion of tho chairman, seconded by Com. Gavin, the letter was received. —This being the last meeting of the Board, a hearty vote of thanks to the chairman was passed for the able, impartial and efficient manner in which he had conducted the business of the Board.

Nkw Town Boahd.—Eight nominations for the.new Hoard have been received, vi Gallagher, Lipsey, Mills, Dohson, Kbert, Heathcote, Downes and Ilott. The election takes place at the Hoard's office on Tuesday next.
