Mkssu3 Alfred Bcckland and Sons' Weekly Kepokt.—At the Haymarket during the past week fodder has fallen in value (id par cwt. ; prices liavo railed tr-mi Is to 2s per cwt. with a dull sale. Oats Lave been in increased demand, and have risen in price 3>l per bushel ; good f' ! «d are now worth 2s lid ; maize, 2s Ud per bushel; chaff from -10h to (iOd ; potatoes, i' 2 15s ; bonedust, £fi 5s to £7 10s; superphosphate, £7 10a to £8 10s per ton. On Friday, 7th September, horse stock sold freely, and maintained the improved values nf the last few weeks. Prices for good, useful horses ranged from £0 10s (id to £15 15s, and strong hacks are required. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday, both hides and skill were in full numbers. Calfskins were from 4d to VJd; heavy oxhides, 3Jd to 4d; cowhides, 2,-Jd to 2Jd per lb; eheepskinß sold well, the greater part bringing from 3s to 5s 0d each ; tallow, 12s (id per cwt. j wool, fnim s|d to 7d per lb. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were in moderato number, and at late values. Store cattle in full supply; prices very regular throughout the sale at an advance of abeut ">s each over the prices ruling at this time last year. Yearling steei-3 brought from 25s to SO.-i; two-year-olds, 40s to 455; three years, ;">■">< to 70-»; barren cows, 30a to 45: i each. Fat cr.lves plentiful, but sold well. Fat cattle, in moderate supply, were steady at last week's values, about 17s tho lOOlbs., and better worth at finish than at beginning of sale. Sheep, in full numbars, obtained an advance if well fatted from Is t» 2s each, but many received from Waikato were stores only, and those remained unsold. Fat lambs, In short supply, brought from 8s to 12s each. Pigs plentiful, and sold freely at ■atisfnetory prices, particularly well-bred porkere up to 1001b. Messrs Huntkr and Nolan's Weekly Repobt. —Horse-feed, ffrain, needs, &.c. : Stocks are ampin and prices are firm fur seed oats, and Turtarians have advanced 3d per bushel. Pressed hay, difficult to dispose of at any price. Weqiiote: Feed oats, 2s Cd per bushel; Tartarian, 2s (id to 2s !)d ; maize, 2a u'd to 2s 0d per bushel; bran, £3 15s to £4 5s per ton ; pressed hay, £1 10s per ton. Horses: An average number of local horses were brought forward, and found purchasers at the previous week's values, but there remains an unsatisfied demand for good hacks and active harness horses. About the usual number Mere submitted by auction at tho Durham Yatds on Friday. Bidding wii3 brisk at the commencement of tho sale and steady the remainder, and the prices realised were a shade in advance of the previous week. We quote hacks at from £4 5s to £12; light harness, from £b' 15s to £1110s; draught, £10 to £15. Wool, hides, ■kins and tallow : A large number ol lots were submitted by auction at the Durham Yards, on Tuesday, and sold freely. We quote ox hides, 3id to Id per lb; cow, 2Jd to 3d per lb; damaged, ljd to ljd ; calfskina, 2.} d to4hd per lb; sheepskins, Is 3d to 5s 4d ; tallow, £12 to £12 15s per ton. Cattle: An average number have come forward, and a steady demand has existed, and salea have been effected without any noteworthy alteration in value. There was but a small number of stores yarded on Tuesday at Newmarket, but there was a good muster at Pukekohe on Wednesday, and at both yards. Dairy stocks were well represented, barely an average number of fat boasts were submitted. There was no alteration in value worthy of note except that for really top aorta r. relatively higher price was given than for ordinary conditioned bests. We quoto : Calves, from 10s to 17s; yearlings, 17s (id to 22s Cd ; IS-month-old steers, 30s to 37s fid; grown eteers, £2 17s (id to £4 ; dry cows, £1 10s to £2 10s ; dairy cows, from £3 10s to £ ; beef, from 143 to 17s Ud per lOOlto. ; some averages were £4 ISs !)d, £2, £5 4s lid, £5 (is Cd, £5 !)s, £5 15s (id, £« Is, £(» 2s lid, .fli 4s, £6 7s 3d, £0 17s Gd ; cows, £5 7s lid, £1 15s, £o. Sheep: There was a, very small muster, and of inferior quality, at Newmarket, on Tuesday, consequently prime wethers reached a fabulous price, 235, but the average was 13s for wethers. Spring lambs were of good quality, and sold at from 5s 3d to 14s. Pigs : The supply has been far short of requirements. CANTERBURY MARKETS. THE New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Report :—Christchurch, September 7tn. —Wheat: Continued favourable advices from London are having a very beuetinial effect on the market here. There is a keen demaDd for sWo parcels, and numerous large transactions have transpired during the week at prices opening at 3s 3d and closing at 3s sd, f.o.b. There is a good deal of the speculative element in operations now being carried through, and in tne absence of tonnage- for port of call any reaction at Mark Lane will be speedily responded to, as many purchasers would iu that ease become anxious sellers, before prices greatly receded. Second quality milling is in good request at 2s 9d to 3s, f.o.b. Whole fowl wheat is making 2s Sd, f.0.b., and good seconds are changing hands at 2s to 2s 4d.
