The Sultan and Prince Muley Hasan fled from tlio palaeo, whilst the affray was at its height, aud order was not restored until tlio arrival of Imperial troops, who drove the rebels back to tho town.
It is beliovod several of tho European residents were killed iu the earlier stage of the outbreak. Upon the news reaching this place the foreign warships landed armed parties here to protect the Europeans and quell any disturbance that might arise. It is reported that during the revolution outrages rivalling in horror the Bulgarian atrocities were eounneeted by the iuilamed populace.
