■Mi! W. J. Mustek Rm'outs : At Cambridge, on Saturday, September Ist, there was a good attendance, of buy era. At Messrs booth and Robert's meat sale, prices were not so high as at the previous pah;. At tin- cattle yards there was a large number of cattle brought forward, some choice dairy cows sold at fair prices, only a few fat steers yarded, but did not realise price roqniivd, a large number of young cattle met ready sale. [ quote: Dairy cows, £2 10.< to AM ; weaned calves and yearlings, mixed sext's, l'ls to 22s each ; store heifers and cows in fresh condition, £2 to £2 15s. At the horse and produce yards a large quantity of produce sold. There w.vs a full yard of ho-'sos, but littlo or tio demand, I could place a few good draughts now at fair prices. Hacks sold from £4 to £S; light harness horses from to £11 ; ponies, ,£L 10s to £3 10s ; 40 young pigs sold from Is to Ss each. At Ohaupo, on Tuesday, September 4th, I had a very large muster of cattle, all very choice bred, and in good condition, young cattle were lower os per head, whilst gimvn cattlo advanced in price fully Hk There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of Waikato. Dairy cows were in good request, and sold freely, also grown steers of any class in good demand. All sold, and many more can be paced at my next sale, held hereon the 18th inst. Over 100 heaii of beef were yarded, and nearly every lot sold at very satisfactory prices. Heifers and cows from £2 12s to £4 ss; steers, £4 to £4 12s ; dairy cows, from £2 to £1 ss; empty fresh cows, £2 5s to £2 His; thin cows, £1 8s to £1 12s (id; weaned calves, His to 22s Od ; yearlings steers, £1 Is to £1 8s ; 2\ to 3-year-old well-bred, £2 4s to £3." Fifty fresh steers from Broadmeadows made £4 Is, £4 4s, £-1 Ss, and £4 12, respectively; 50 fat wethers, 12s 3d ; 12!) ewes and lambs. 10s Od each ; 1U store pigs, lis each.
Mil J. McNicor. reports : At Ohaupo, on Tuesday last, a full market of all classes of cattle, fair attendance of buyers, and rather slightly lower values obtained all through. Good turnip steers, £3 15 s to £-1 7s ; good stor# steers, big framed, £3 15s ; two-and-a-half year old steers, well bred and fresh, £2 lis to t'2 15s ; uighteen-monthsold steers, £1 17s (id ; calves mixed sexes, £t Is ; Kuanui steers, rising two years, £1 His lid for the whole line, and two pens of heifers at £1 15s; fresh empty cows, at from £1 Ss to £2 Ss ; fat cows, £3 to £3 7s lid ; fat steers, £li. Mkssus A. lii.TKi.ANii it Sox's Wkkkly Ruroin'.—During the past week meadow hay has nulled from Is 3d to Is SIJ ; oaten sheaves, Is tid to 2 s 3d the cwt ; maize, at ship's side, 2s Id, in store, 2s 4d to 2s "d : oats, 2s -Id to 2s !)1 the bushel ; bonednst and superphosphates, £'j 10s to £8 10s the ton. On Friday, August 31, horse stock maintained the 'previous week's improved values: Useful horses ranged from ±1(3 to £12 10s ; spring carts, £(i 7s (id and £<> 10s ; drays, £7 and £3 7a lid. At the hide and skin sale on Tuusday prices for hides were well sustained, good ox brought from to -t.'id ; cow, 2j['d ; calfskins, 3.jd to the lb; "sheepskins were in good demand, and brought from 5s !)d to Is 3d each ; bags of wool, to the lb. At the nsual cattle sale held at Waiuku on Saturday last the farm of Mr Pyke was not sold. although a desirable homestead. Cattle were in good inquiry at an advance over late markets of 2s (id to ;>s each. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle sold more freely than last week, but priccs were low, varying from £2 to £4 OS each. Store in moderate number, were required. Vat cattlc, in short supply, scarcely maintained last week's values. Prices ranged for steers, from £7 17s fid to ft 15s, or from 15s tc 17s per lOOllis. Sheep were of good uniform quality, and were also in less than nsual numbers; prices were firm, and highest at conclusion of sale. Wetheri ranged from lGs t*: 12s (id; ewes, lls lo 10s each, or 2;Jd to 3d per lb. Lan.li varied in weight considerably, and ranged from 13s <U to ii< each. Calves were in short supply, and brought extreme prices. Pigs were also in demand, at improved values, kindly porke.-s bringing nearly Id per lb, and good store pigs equally high. iIKSSIIS IIuXTKIt AND Noi.AX's WHKKt.Y Rki'OUT.—(!ram, seeds, horse feed, itc : A moderate demand has existed, and with the exception of i.aten chaff, 'all descriptions of horse feed have been plentiful. Ihe cie mand for seed oats has been in excess of supply, and prices have had an upward tendency. We quote : Oats (feed), 2s (id ; Tartarian, 2s 5d ; mai/.e, 2s o 1 to 2s M -, bran, £3 10 s; chaff, Ji2 to £2 10*. Horses: Not many have been brought forward, and these were principally of an inferior stamp. Those submitted by auction Jit the Durham Yards were much the same description as mi the previous week. The few strangers were well competed for, but for lots previously held over sale competition was slow. We quote : Hacks, £3 2s (id to £10 12s Ud; light harness, £(> 10s to £11 ; draught, £11. Wool, hides and skins were pitched in usual quantities at the Durham Y»rds on Tuesday, and were steadily competed for, but th°re was adeclino in the value of hides, particularly for heavies. Skins realised fully the previous week's values. We quote : Ox, 3Ad to -Id ; cow, 2Jd to 3d ; call skins, to 4.jd ; sheepskin pelts, S.i ; woolled skins, 2s ild to OS 9:1. Cattle : There has been increased animation in the market, particularly in stores, and there remains an unsatisfied demand for steers of all descriptions, and particularly for grown ones in fresh condition, as also for empty cows. There ■was a short minter at Newmarket, on Tuesday, but a good one at Papakura on Wednesday. Dairy stock were well represented, and were well competed for, notwithstanding the good muster at tho latter place. Sheep: Only an average number were brought forward, and prices were a shade firmer. Pigs it: fair supply, and brisk demand.
