A CURIOUS DOMESTIC ADVENTURE.
• A prominent democratic politician in a town not far from tho line of tho Northwestern Pacific Railroad, says a Valley City, Dakota, despatch to the St. Paul Globe, met with a curious domestic adventure a few nights since. Mingling too much with the wine when it was red, he became genially mellow, and, in a very hospitable frame of mind, started for home. There roomed in the same house a number of other men, one of whom, on going home, found his bed occupied by an unsuspecting stranger. Upon complaint to the mellow democratic politician, and a further consultation with the booze, in a spirit of generosity hardly conceivable, the complaining roomer was conducted to the bed-side of the democratic politician's better half, and told to repose himself therein, in lieu of a couch of his own. The lady being a sound sleeper, never noticed the presance of the stranger, and our politician returned to his cups. Returning home in the morning, with his head not quite so clear he entered his wife's bed-rooin, and, having forgotten all about his generosity in the earlier part of the night, he discovered to his horror and amazement, a strange masculine form sleeping in his o»vn bed, while his devoted spouse snored contentedly on the other side. Indignation rapidly took possession of his honest soul, and, with a promptness aud vigour admissible under the circumstances, the intruder was bounced from his bed and nearly beaten to deatli before the situation was made clear to the innocent victim. The lady, awakened by the noise, shouted murder, and a general uproar filled the house. She received a denudation that was calculated to wither almost any lady from the irate husband. No explanation, no protest, could appease his wrath. It was not until several hours after, when matters began to clear, that the situation was thoroughly explained and apologies amicably indulged in. Peace looms over the household at present, but our friend will endeavour to provide other lodgings hereafter for any belated friend who may seek his hospitality.
