MEDICAL AID FOR WHATAWHATA NATIVES.
MrW. A. Graham received a reply yesterday from the Native Minister to his telegram, urging that medical assistance be sent to the natives at Whatawhata, whe are suffering from fever. In a late issue we published a letter from our correspondent at that locality, calling attention to the mortality and sickness prevalent amongst tho Maoris there, and we desired that some steps should bo taken without delay, to provide them with medical necessaries. Mr Graham accordingly requested Dr. Murcli to visit Whatawhata,. and he reports, on his return from the settlement, that he found two cases of fever requiring immediate attention. Several deaths have recently occurred, and the Maoris are appealing for medical aid, as they have no means of obtaining relief for themselves. Mr Graham has, we understand, again communicated with the Native Minister to arrange for regular medical to the natives.
