SUPREME COURT.

At the criminal sittings of the Supreme Court on Tuesday Uavid Edmond Porter pleaded guilty to five indictments, covering ten charges of embezzling the moneys of his employers, the Colonial Bank of New Zealand, at Cambridge. Mr 10. Heskcth made a strong appeal to His Honour to extend to the prisioner the privilege of the First Offenders Probation Act. His Honour could not see his way to comply or even to pass a light sentence, and the prisoner was sentenced to three years' penal servitude.
