The Waikato Times Office, Monday. NEW ZEALAND GRAIN MARKETS. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agoncy Company, under date of August 24th, report:—Wheat: Recent advices from Home have been watched with considerable interest, as under the influence of unfavourable harvest weather the English and Continental markets have displayed a further advance. New Zealand wheat is now quoted at 30s Citi ex store, with the usual Is extra fur Tuscan, and those who shipped by steamer a few weeks back, are fortunate in meeting such a favourable market. There is very little tonnage offering, and freights are steadily rising. For London direct 35s is noiv asked, and 37s Gd to port of call. E i>en at these rates charters are difficult to effect. Only for this freight difficulty, prices would doubtless show an important advance, but with the prospect of having to hold in store for a considerable period, merchants are not eager buyers, the bulk of business transpiring during the week being on millers' account. Wo have heard of several lines changing hands at 2s 8d to 2s lOd at country stations, equal to 2s lOd to 3s, f.0.b., according to quality. Whole fowl wheat is in good request, and meets with ready sale at 2s 4d to 2s Gd, f.o.b Good seconds are saleable at Is lOd to 2s 2d, f.o.b. Oats—The unsatisfactory reports from Melbourne, that the Government of Victoria proposed to increase the duty on bailey and oats, has had a depressing effect on the market here, and the firm tone lately prevailing has been somewhat checked in consequence. Prices are not quotably lower, but there is no life in the trade at the moment. We quote prime milling 2s Id to 2s 2d f.o.b; good stout feed, 2s to 2s Id ; fair feed, Is lid ; thin and inferior, Is BJd to Is lOd. CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN AND PRODUCIS MARKETS.
