THE MINERS' STRIKE.

Brunker, Minister of Lands, is mediating in the colliery dispute, and it is stated there is a possibility of a settlement of the diflioulty. 'I lie miners of Newcastle have issued a manifesto to their f<;!lowworkmen, and to the public of Australasia, appealing for aid in their present struggle with the coalowners. The Maritime Labour Council has objected to the miners abandoning negotiations with the masters, but they have promised them their support in the strike. Dwnodin, Friday. A private cable says that coal has advanced in Melbourne 10 £5 per ton yesterday. On dit, that negotiations for the Westport coal business to a Victorian syndicate are off, the price, £5 per share, being considered too high.
