THE MINING EXHIBITS.
(BY TELEGRAPH.— PUKSS ASSOCIATION). Wellington - , Wednesday. Tub Premier received the following cable from Mr Witheford last night:—" I am not the author of the telegram imputed by Sir J. Hector. I, as the authorised representative of large mining interests in New Zealand, deeply regret that the Parliament and Press of the country have been the mediums for promulgating serious reflections on our mining negotiations in Australia. In justice to the goldh'elds community I beg permission to lay before the Hou.se this unqualified contradiction of Sir Jas. Hector's statement regarding myself and specimens of quartz supplied by companies.—.1. A. Withkfobd."
