WAIKATO HOSPITAL.

_ « No stately pile tiprears its lofty height, Claiming attention from the passer-by With its magnificence ; no sculptured stone Of cunning artifice or skilled device In quaintly arabesque, or boss, or scroll; No vaulted dome, nor pillar'd portico, Nor massive tower, nor slender pinnacle, I< here only a simple edifice All unadorned by art alone we see, Sheltered within its belt of hardy pine, Crowning the eminence on which it stands. Its ornaments, the grassy mead around In which the richly burdened milch kine graze; The undulating landscape spread to view iOf hill and dale, the harvest-tinted field ; The rural homestead, and the cottage trim ; These its adornments outwardly. Within Its cleanness, comfort, order and repose; The patient tending, and the gentle care ; Nor last, nor least, the skill which ably treats The suffering patient. All honeur and all praise | To him, to those, who, time and energy, I Their life long labour, thought, and cultured I skill, Devote to ease the anguish of their kiud, Their fellow men, open to all the ills, The thousand ills the heirship of frail flesh. The home of healing! May success be thine, And wealth smile on thee in the coming years; And peace and happiness like sunbeams rest, On all who seek relief within thy wall. Anon. Any contributions for the Hospital, the preceding may elicit may be addressed. Anon, Care Manager, Tim Wafkato Turns Office, Hamilton.
