The appointment of Mr Clendon, as E.M. for Auckland, is gazetted. The Gazette notifies that Icakas come within the provisions of the Animals Protection Act from 17th inst. A further motion was before the Supreme Court to-day with regard to Fen wick, the alleged lunatic. Mr Justice Gillies in referring to the application said Fenwick's detention was now illegal. Yesterday evening a woman named Mrs A. Mahoney was arrested on a charge of setting fire to a house in Parnell. She was brought up at the Police Court to-day, and remanded for a week.
