4 Band Bali..—The Te Aroha brass band ball came off on Wednesday evening, and was patronised by 40 couples, the full band supplying the music, which gave every satisfaction. The hall was tastefully decurated with evergreens and Chinese lanterns, and over the stage was inscribed the following lines of welcome "Ladies, tread the guileless measure, Gallants clasp your partner's hand, Hear each sj'tnphony re-echo Earnest welcomes from our band." Mr Dibsell's catering was thoroughly appreciated. We are glad to learn that financially, the affair was a success. Mining.—J. It is claimed that no injurious fumes arise after the discharge. This will prove a great boon to the miners, and will be welcomed by them. Sudden Illness.—M* H. H.
