Ox the iirrivnl of the Wakatipu from Wellington to-day, it. was discovered that Gasparini, the escapee, who was sent from Wellington, was missing. It is not known whether lie jumped overboard or not. Wellington l , Friday. There is every reason to believe that Gasparini, the French escapee, jumped overboard from the Wakatipu before leaving New Zealand. He told some of his compatriots that he would rather die than be relanded in New Caledonia No information regarding his being missing has been received by the Government. Neither the Justice Department or French Consul have received any information from Sydney as to the disappearance of Gasparini from the steamer Wakatipu.
