SHOCKING DEATH.
[by TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CiIRisrcHUUCH, Friday. At about 12.15 p.m. to-day, William Bates, aged 70 ye.trs, was run over by the train on the Lyttelton line, near Wilson's road, and was cut in two. He was standing on the platform of the front carriage and fell between the engine and carriage, four carriages passing over him.
