CHURCH RETRENCHMENT.
TO THE EDITOR. g [Bi Retrenchment seems to be the order of the day in Church matters as well as public affairs. I must say I highly commend the members of S. Pe°ter's Church in calling a meeting of the members to discuss ways and means to try and keep out of debt before it is too late. I think the members of the Wesleyan Church at Hamilton would do well if they followed the example set them and call a meeting of those interested in the work to talk over the matter of income and expenditure, and see what conld bo done to make one meet the other, instead of remaining idle in the matter and running headlong into debt, as they are at present, without making any provision for the same. I think rit they were to use the same time aul* -ojoirgy in this matter that they are wasting over social teas and such like to get money to pay for a lot of unnecessary and expensive furniture for the already too expensive parsonage, it would be much more to the purpose.— Yours truly, Wk.sleyan Sympathiser, Hamilton, 3rd August, 1888.
