Judgment has been giveu in the action brought by the trustees of the late Robert Larson, sheep farmer, against the Commercial Bank of South Australia, which began ou July 11. The verdict was for the plaintiffs for £40,000, with costs. Sydney, July 31. The victim of the Blacktown murder was named Morris. He was formerly a digger in New Zealand, and was reported to be well off. It is supposed the quarrel originated over wages. The Chinaman, who is named Hing Loong, struck Morris a terrible blow on the head with a tomahawk. The latcer's wife was severely hacked about the arms in endeavouring to separate the men. During the struggle the Chinaman was desperately wounded and lies in a critical state. Should the shipowners agree to confine the conference to the New Zealand difficulty it is believed that a meeting with the Seamen's , Union can be arranged. August 1, A paper enclosed in a sealed bottle was found near Woollongong, south of Sydney, and states that the barque Ocean, from Belfast, had been abandoned by the captain and crew, and that ten of their number had perished. Melbourne, July 31. The balance-sheet of the Exhibition Commissioners up to the end of Jun» shows the expenditure to have been £158,000. There remains to the credit of the Commissioners the sum of £14,000. August 1. Baron von Mueller, the well-known botanist, has been seriously injured by falling off a tram-car. Newcastle, August 1. The colliery has given notice to dis continue blasting, and all coal in future will be hewn.
