TREE-PLANTING IN THE HAMILTON LAKE RESERVE.
A deputation consisting of Messrs Edgecombe, Hutne and Mason waited on the Domain Board on Tuesday evening, with reference to the tree-planting beo in the Lake Reserve. In reply to a request, the Board agreed to fence in the portion which would be planted this season, and the members of tho deputation, His Worship tho Mayor, von Stunner, and Knox were appointed a committee to carry out the necessary work with the view to his worship the Mayor appointing a day as a public holiday for a planting bee to be held. The committee meet subsequently and employed Mr Mason to superintend the work by marking out the ground and getting the holes dug. Mr Gelling was appointed Secretary and Treasurer, and it was resolved that the committees of the two schools be written to, asking them to give the schools a holiday on the day appointed. Arrangements were made for the members of the committee to obtain subscriptions to defray the cost of preparing the ground, etc.
