THE PAKURANGA HOUNDS.

Thr hounds mot yesterday at the master's (Mr Pickering's) house at Hautapu, where lunch was kindly provided, and was done full justice to by the members. Aftor tho hunt was over they were again invited to "whet the whistle," an invitation that many accepted There wero a goodly number present, among whom we noticed the following : —The Master on Laverock, and Mrs Pickering on a bay gelding. The ladies comprised tho Misses A. R. and L. Walker on Fair Play, Cock Robin aNd Spider, respectively, Miss Taylor on Laddie, Miss Moon on Clipper, and the Misses Main. Among the gentlemen, we noticed Messrs C. G. Glassfurd on Nora, N. G. Glassford on Reckless, A. Bach on Kismet, John Taylor on Robin, C. Lake on Recruit, W. Carr on Dick Swiveller, J. Barugh on Patch, J. Philips on Mercedes, W. Moon on Patience, Paton on Nipper, Pritt on Oyster, Mason on Billie, Clark on Bessemer, E. Walker on Brownie, and A. Gane, Selby, and many others. The drag was laid by Mr Paton on foot, over a good hunting country, and after he had gone about two miles, he was caught. Mr Pickering then started with another, and laid it over some very stiff fences, including several gates, which choked off a good many and made the field very select, There were tho usual number of spills, but nothing of a very serious nature. Recruit had two nasty falls, and Nora unfortunately got hung in a wire fence, which injured her leg. Fair Play also catno to grief with Miss Walker, but was not injured. There wero a good number up at the finish, after which an adjournment was made to Mr Pickering's for "a refresher." A little more hunting was then indulged in without a find, and everyone roturned home well satisfied with the day's sport.
