TE AROHA
Dk. Wright's Departure.—We very much regret Dr Wright's departure from Te Aroha. He has gone to Westport, with a view to getting the hospital appointment, and the lute Dr Thorpe's practice.
St. Mauk's Church.—The Anniversary of the opening of St. Mark's Church (19th August), will bring forth the inevitable Boiroe, also anniversary sermons on Sunday. This Church occupies a unique position amongst Auckland Churches at the present time. The vestry at the last quarterly meeting, after making a substantial bonus to the salary of the incumbent, and wiping off a debit balance of tho quarter, found a satisfactory balance to carry forward. Railway Hates.—The Railway rates, Auckland to To Aroha, have been lowered to2ss pur ton, evidently to drive the steamers off Hie rivers. There ia no reduction, Te Aroha to Auckland. Query: If the steamers are laid up, would the railway rates advance " with leaps and hounds?"
