TE AROHA.

Town Boaud.— A special meeting of the Town Board was held in the office on the 19th inst., to receive the report of the committee appointed to prepare the estimate required by clause 38, T«wn District Act, 1881, preparatory to striking a rate. The statement which was adopted showed the bank overdraft now £55 11s 3d ; sum available for road work say £5113s 7d (of which contracts are let to the amount of £14); salaries, rents, printing, &c, £58 12s ; total, £165 lGs 10d. The proposed rate of Is in £ would realise say £150 nelt; dog tax say, £12; cash in hand, £3 lGs 10d ; total, £105 Ids 10d.—Mr Frazer moved, and Mr Hotchin seconded, that the estimate be duly notified.—Carried. It was also resolved, upon the motion of Mr Hotchin, seconded by Mr Frazer, that the clerk ask a price from the Gazette and News for advertising the estimate, and that he accept the lowest, and also post a copy upon the office notice board.—The Chairman proposed and Mr Hotchin, seconded, that n special meeting be held in the office on Friday, the 3rd August, for the purpose of striking a rate of Is in the £ upon all rateable property within the town district, and in accordance with the estimate to be advertised. Annivkusahy Tea Meeting.—The Sun-day-school anniversary tea-meeting wna held in the Wesleyan Church on the l!)th inst., and was so well attended that the good things provided actually ran short. After tea a very interesting programme was disposed of. Mining.—The Mount Aroha Gold and Silver Mining Company have let tenders for the erection of a handsome set of new offices, which include manager's room, assayer's room, kc. Messrs Mills and Currie are the successful tenderers.
