THE ATTACK ON THE HON. MR FISHER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sin, —I have read the letter from the Hon. li. Fisher, addressed to the Australasian, in reference to a communication from their Wellington correspondent, "Taniwha," and published by you in Thursday's issue. The Hon. Mr Fisher's self-reliant and creditable record is so well-known in these colonies that I really think it was quite unnecessary for him to have noticed the communication. But as he has done so in the trenchant letter in question, we should congratulate hiin on the wonderfully able manner in which he has in the last year or two come to the front in all that concerns the people's interests. He is the best representative we have of the new blood school, a school which must ere long hold all prominent positions here ; and the time is not far distant when the Premiership will fall to his lot by general consent. I notice the " Rangitikei Advocate " of 12th inst. has a strong leader on this subject, eulogistically tracing the career of the Hon. Mr Fisher; but not too strong or too eulogistic. —I am, &c., Lex. Auckland, 20th July.
