MURDEROUS ASSAULT ON A WARDER.

[BY TELEGRAPH — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Auckland, Wednesday. A COLOURED convict, named John Brown, made a murderous assault on Warder Rutherford at Mount Eden yesterday evening. He struck him on the head with a hammer. Rutherford has been taken to the Hospital. Brown is said to be insane.
