The Waikato Times Office, Friday. WAIKATO LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Messrs W. J. Hunter & Co. Report : At Ohaupo on Tuesday cattle of all descriptions soldwoll. A largo munbei of sheep met ready sale. We sold 100 ewes in lamb at 10s (id ; 104 at Ss Gd; fat hoggetts 12s each. Also 500 wethers, privately, 12s Gd. Mu J. MoNicor, reports : At Ohaupo, on Tuesday, the yards were well filled with a good attendance of buyers, and there was a good sale. Watsons steers, £5 10s, £5, £4 12s Gd, £4 ss, £3 10s, £3, and £2 5s for steers off turnips ; cows, £2 10s; spoyed two-year heifers, £1 10s, £1 fls and £1; old cows, 16s ; T. V. steers, £2 19s for 37 ;10 steers, £3 ss; 10 do., £3 6s. Kdinond's steers, £2 Bs, £2 and i.l 14s for oighteen month to Calves, 12s each (mixed sexes), 18-month heifers, 25s to 3(is for choice quality. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mr Alkreo Buckland's Wekkly ReTORT.—At the ilaymarkot. during the past week, fodder has ranged in price from Is 3d to 2s ; chafT, from Is Gd to 2s 3d ; bran, 3s 6d ; pumpkins, Is 9d the cwt; oats, 2s to 2s 2d ; maize, 2s Gd ; pearl seed wheat, 3s 6d thi bushel ; carrots, 25s ; bonedust, £G to £7 10s the ton. At the horse sale on Saturday horses were in full number, and many sold at late values, A useful pair of ponies brought £15 10s ; medium draught stock, from £G to £10 os; a covered wag#on, £13 10s ; springcart, £10. On Tuesdcy hides and skins were pitched in full mini berg. Hides were at late values, and skins, consequent on the steady improving advice from England, were better worth, bound ox hides ranged from 4d to 4| ; cow hides, 3d to 3?d ; calfskins, B ; jd to 4jd the lb ; tallow, lis 3d to 14s tho cwt ; sheepskins, Is Gd to 4s 8d each, but tho greater nnmber ranged between 3s Gii and 4s Sd. At Waiuku, on Saturday, July 7, there was a fair muster of cattle. Stores had a good demand, but a few fat cattle wore withdrawn. The pigs, sheep, and sundries brought forward also sold well, but horses were unsaleable at owners' values. At Remucra, on Thursday, dairy cattle were in better inquiry than last week, and sold more freely, although without any quotable advance in price. Fat cattlo: In average number— 221 yarded ; prices advanced from Is to Is Gd on steers, and on cows fully 2* Gd the 100!bs; _prices f..r cows wero from 13* to 15s, and for steers from 14s to Ills the lOOlbs. Sheep, ill full numbers, maintained lust week s prices, although about one halt' the sheep received from the West Coast wero withdrawn. Pigs, plentiful, sold Ireel.y, dairy fed pigs were better worth. I'at calves, numerous, and required at full values. Some averages were : sl> steers from Waitara, £710s; 1G steers from Waikato, £G 10s; 14 steers, £o ; !) steers, £5 14<; 17 steers, £4 18s; Hi steers, £4 lSs ; 12 cows, £3 15s; The 150 ewes advertised brought l-ls !)d ; drafts of wethers from Waikato brought respectively 15s !)d, lis, and Us Gd each ; from Waitara, 15s (id. Messrs Hunter and Nolans Weekly Report.—Horsefeed, grain, seeds, etc. : There has been an ample supply and steady demand, without much alteration in value, maize being in excess of requirements had a slightly downward tendency. We quote: Maize, 2s Sd to 2s lOd per bushel ; Teed oats, 2s 3d ; bran, £3 10s to £3 15s per ton ; chaff, £2 10a per ton. Horses : Dullness has again characterised the market; the supply has not _ been large, and of indifferent description. demand was slack at the previous weeks values; the average number were entered fin- sale by auction at the Durham yards on Friday. The competition lacked animation, most fit the lots wero placed at the previous week's values. There remained an unsatisfied demand for good hacks, one findingapurchaser at £20, and good upstanding, strong, young horses would have found ready purchasers. Wool, hides and skins : Average quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards; a brisk demand existed, and there was an upward tendency for heavy ox hides and well woolled skins.' Wo quote : Heavy ox, from from 4:fd to 5d per lb; medium, 3id to 4.[d ; cow, to 3.jd ; calf skins, 4id to 3d per lb ; sheep skins, from 2s 5d to Gs 10s each ; tallow, 12s to 14s per cwt. Cattle : Dairy stock were not so plentiful as on the previous week ; .stores were sufficiently numerous for requirements, and were in request at a slight advance in value ; fat beasts were scarcely so numerous as usual, but J prices did nut advance, The number of all i descriptions yarded at Newmarket, on Tuesday, was limited ; but ther* was a good muster at Pukekobo on Wednesday. There was no noteworthy alteration in the value of dairy cows; for stores, particularly young steers, an advance was given, and for fat beasts_the previous week's values were barely maintained, and fat steers ranged from £4 10s to AC7 ; cows, from £2 10s to £4 7s (3d ; ox beef, 13s to 17s per 1001b; cow, 10s to 14*. Sheep: The Newmarket Yards wero fairly filled, and a steady domand existed, but for some lots the expectations of sellers could not be reached. Wethers realised from 12s Gd to 15s 9d ; ewes, from lis 9d to 13s 9d. No lambs were yarded, l'igs in short supply. A demand exists for good well-fed animals.
