THE ROBBERY AND MURDER CASE
(dy telegraph.—pkess association.) Wellington, Wednesday. Codsins, in his report to the police, stated that the offence was committed at 10 o'clock on Sunday night, but Detective Benjiman was to-day able to throw quite a different light on the subject. He got information from several of Cousin's friends as to his whereabouts on Sunday evening, and they stated that Cousins was at several places, and not out of their company until midnight. Cousins is now under the necessity of obtaining some confirmation of his stateiments, or lie under the odium of having nvented the charge U> screen himself from the consequences of a position ho was unable to face.
