In the House 0:1 Tuesday night the Premiur gave evidence that he was becomiDg more impressed with the desire of the country for further reductions in the cost of the Government services. He stated that the Government had not yet completed the work of retrenchment; it was still goiug en, and if the House so wished it, he was willing to do his best to carry out a resolution to the following effect:—"That in the opinion of the House the Government should, if possible, during the recess, further reduce the Civil Service ami Departmental expenditure by £100,000 per anmim." He proposed to accord such a resolution Ministerial support. The issue is clearly in the hands of the people, who should make it, plain to their representatives that it is their imperative desire to have only a Government that will substantially lessen our whole expenditure and introduce drastic administrative reforms.
