see if there was a rock in the vicinity of where the llaweu was saiil to have struck. After an hours' work they gave up the job without tinding anything. Yester.iay Captain llolford and Mr llhind, resident engineer, were sweeping the bottom all about but found nothing hke the rock asserted by Captain 11 unsby as being there. The Collector of Customs sent a iiivi.r down to-day, and a man has been engaged ;it work since early this morning but up to now has discovered no rock in such a position as to interfere with any vessel entering the. harbour.
