The Seamen's Union has notified the agent of the Alameda that they will decline to unload, load, or coal the vessel unless the Chinese crew, who do not belong to the Union, are discharged. Adelaide, Jiuio2G. In tho Assembly the Attorney-Gene-ral has introduced a Rill providing for South Australia joining the Federal Council. In the course of his speech he said lie was convinced that such a course was desirable in tho interests of the colony. There is strong opposition to the proposal. The Bill was read a first time. Melbourne, Juno 20. Charles Mark ham who attempted to murder his wife, Laura Markham, at South Richmond, on April 27th, by shooting her with a revolver was tried to-day. The jury returned a verdict of guilty with a recommendation to meroy. The Judge passed sentence of death. Bkisijane, June 26. A new goldlicld has been discovered near the head of the Pine River, 40 miles from Brisbane. Assays of the stuff have shown that the stone yields two ounces to the ton. A rush has set in.
