THE ABSCONDING BANK CLERK.
All sorts of reports are current in Cambridge as to the whereabouts of Porter, but nothing authentic is known. One report states that he called and had a meal at Taupo, and managed to elude tho police. The general feeling is one of regret that tho young man could not keep straight, but everyone also feels indignant that he should have abused tho confidence placed in him by Mr Macara. We shall probably have tidings of his capture during the day or to-morrow. A Mr Lusk has been appointed to fill Porter's place. Ho is a brother to the full-back of the Gordon football team, and is also a player at the game, so the absentee will not be missed as much as was expected.
