[HY TKI/KOItAVH —OWN COKUKSI'ONDKNT. I Auckland, Monday. H. Wir.UAM.s and Mrs Miller, charged at the Police Court with imposing on Air H. M. Thompson of ■Tβ Aroha by representing themselves as man mid wife were discharged as it appeared that the charge wus not laid by Thompson but by one Hugh Shortland, who, after instructing Sir W, \Vasteneys a few minutes before the opening of the Court, disappeared. It transpired that the charge had been laid with a view to get evidence in support of the action for a divorce commenced by Mrs Miller's husband.
The Auckland North Licensing Committee to-day finally decided to refuso a renewal license to the Eagle Hotel, corner, of Albert and Durham-streets.
Mr S. Browning, father of the late Mr Robert Browning, and one of the bestknown old Auckland residents, diod. to-day, aged 87.
