The Waikato Timet Office, Friday. AUCKLAND LI Vl'. STOCK MARKETS. Mn Alfred Bugkland's Weekly Report.— At the Hayinarket during the past week fodder has ranged from 1s lid to 2s 3d per cwt; straw, Is per cwt; chaff, is to (10s : carrots, 25s to 27s 6d ; table potatoes, £2 15s; kidney potatoes (seed), £4 10s ; boncdust, £5 to' per ton ; oats 2s 2d ; uuizo, lis 3d per bushel. The horse sale, on June 1, was (consequent on tho special sale of Messrs I'ullen and Child's) the largest that has been held for some months ; there was a numerous attendance, and improved prices throughout. Buggies and waggons ranged in price from £(> to £20 10s, and strong useful horses from £0 to £10 each. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday prices were well sustained. Ox hides ranged up to ; cow bides, 4£d; calf skins, fid per lb ; tallow, lls per cwt; station skins, from Is fid to 3s lOd each. At Waiuku. on Saturday, June 2nd, a small muster of stock sold fairly well, fat cattle being equal to Remuera values. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows sold freely, and last week's values were fully sustained useful cows, near calving, ranged from £5 to £(i ss. Store cattle ware also in demand. Fat cattle, in full number, were on the whole bettor worth than last week, but quotations can scarcely be altered. Cows, from lis to 13s; steers, 13s to l(>sthe lOOlbs were the prices ruling. Sheep, in average number, obtained a further advanco of 2s. Fat wethers ranged from 14s to 17s ; lambs, !ls to 12s; store lambs, shorn, 7s each. I'igs, plentiful, maintained their price, uai'ticulariy heavy weight, suitable for bacon curing. Messrs Hunter ani> Nolan's Weeklt Report :—Grain, horse feed, otc„ : The market has been over-supplied, and the demand rathor slack, with but little alteration in value. We quota : Oats, 2s to 2s 2d per bushel : chaff, £2 to £2 10s per ton ; carrots, 25s per ton. Horses : There has boon an adequate supply, and but moderate demand ; thoso of good stamp sold readily, but weeds were comparatively neglected. There was an average muster at the Durham yards on Friday, but bidding was slow for most of the lots offered, which woro scarcaly good enough for requirements, and there remained an unsatisfied demand for good upstanding young horses. We quote: Hacks, AM to £15 ss; light harness horses, £G to £10 • 10s; heavy draught, £10 to £18. Wool, hides, skins and tallow : Above an average quantity was pitched at the Durham "Yards, on Tuesday, and bidding was brisk. Ox hides sold at from 4-id to 4|d per lb. ; cow, S.Jd to 3gd; calfskin, 4£d to 5d per lb; tallow, £12 10s to £14 per ton ; sheepskins. Is 9d to 3a lOd cach. Cattle: There has been an improved demand, and prices tor grown store steers and fat beasts advanced markedly.' The Newmarket yards, on Tuesday, and the Papakura, on Wednesday, wore fairly supplied. Store stock havo been in much better request, and the demand for steers was particularly active. Dairy cows, if young and at their profit, were also well competed for. Prices for fat beasts advanced fully 10s per head, owing to the number yarded at Newmarket being insufficient for requirements. We quote : Calves, 7s to 9s each ; yearlings, 9s to IBs ; 18-month-old steers, from 20s to 25s each ; grown steers, £2 12s (id to £2 17s (Id ; dry cows, from 25s to 335; dairy cows, from £4 to £U 10s; springing heifers, £2 10s to £3 2s (Id; average obtained for fat cows, £2 15s to £4 ; steers £6 ss, £G 9s (id, £5 Is, £5 10s. Sheep: There was a very short muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, and wero higher in value per stone, although 14s was the highost price obtained for wethers, and for ewes lis 9d. Lambs: Scarce, and sold at from 7s 9d to 9s. Pigs : Short supply, but good demand.
