Our readers will have leaaied from the report of the Waikato Hospital Board, which appeared in our last issue, that the purchase of the hospital buildings and land has now been completed. This is a matter for congratulation, as the district thus becomes possessed of a very valuable property. The site is in every way a suitable one, as regards position salubrity, and the extensive view of the landscape that it commands. There are many necessary improvements required to be carried eut to make the present hospital commensurate with the require ments of the Waikato and the comfort of the patients, but they will take both time and considerable outlay before they, cau be urovided. Now, however, that the property has become their own, the Board will take greater interest in effecting improvements, as whatever money is expended for sur.lj useful purposes will be reproductive and enchance the value of the property. The total cost of the purchase was £782, made up as follows Buildings and land, £750 ; one quarter's rent, £23 15s ; insurance, £1 10s; deeds, £7.
