HAMILTON ROAD BOARD.
Tub monthly meeting of the Hamilton Road Board was held on Saturday last. Present: Messrs Jones, Atkinson, Maunder, Hay and Livingstone. Mr Jones was elected Chairman for the year and Mr J. S. E. Edgecuinbe was reappointed clerk and collector. The Chairman suggested that before striking the rate for the year an approximate estimate be made of cost of work absolutely necessary to be done in the year, and to ascertain what the present liabilities of the Board were, so as to be in a position to say what the actual amount of rate required to meet the expenditure would have to be. Mr Atkinson was not in favour nf the suggestion and ou the proposition of Mr Livingstone a rate of yd in the £ was decided upon. Mr Atkinson proposed that the district be divided, and separate accounts ke,jt for each district, the boundary between Pukete and Te Rapa to be Mr Jolly's southern boundary. Mr Livingstone proposed as an amendment that the district remain as at present, which was carried. Resolved that the valuation roll should be revised by the chairman and Mr Maunder. Resolved "That as soon as the purchasers of the different portions of Lots 1 and 2, Te Rapa, pay the amounts due by thein for rates for .ISHS, the amount so collected to be repaid to Mr T. Jolly. Resolved " That the chairman be author rised to employ an engineer to take levels of road and Partington's hill on the old Whatawhata road." Resolved "That cheques should be signed by the Chairman, Mr Maunder, and the cie'rk." The following accounts were passed for payment Clerk, £12 Mis (id ; The Waikato Time*, £1 7s tM; Jas.
