RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.
'A meeting'of iihealiove Council was' held in -the Council Chambers, Raglan, On Wednesday, May 30th. Present; The; Chairman (J. K. McDonald), Crs. Mathias, Dando, Hodgson, Brooke arid Sherret. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. In reply to a circular from the YVaitaki County Council. It was stated that the Raglan County Council see no cause to; amend clause 82 of the Counties Act. Resolution.".—lt wasresplyed that the. opinion of Mr Hay be obtained re defaulters of rates, and if possible to summons for their recovery,—That the resolution re the erection of the bridge at AVhaingaroa be rescinded.—That every alternate Bquare mile of country on one side of all the roads laid off *nd made by . the Government be set apart ns an endowment to the Council for the maintenance of the road.—That the.'clerk be empowered to represent the Council in all legal proceedings "taken by it.—That the accounts presented by the Finance Committee be paid.—That the sum of £73 183' 3d, being half of the amount due by the Council to the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board be now paid.— In ailetter from tho Waikato and Waipa County Councils, requesting the payment of the Council's share of the legal expenses incurred, in the case against the Auckland hospital and Charitable' Aid Board, that they be informed that this Council, not being in existence at the time the action was taken, the Council could not be responsible for any expenses incurred.—That tbe request] of Councillor D'ando to hold a Sunday School in the Council Chambers be granted. In answer to Mr Stewart's letter, requesting that the road from Taupiri to Ngaruawahia on the west side of the river •be cleared of briars, it was resolved that he be informed that the Council is unable to comply thereto, as. the funds will not permit.—That the chairman ba empowered to take the nocessary steps to comply with the request, of the polonial Secretary re information for a new election.—That the Colonial' Treasurer be Requested to pay the amount of rates On Crown and Native Lands, £150 8s 5d and £100 0s lOd, respectively, into the Union,. Bank of Australia.—That a letter from the YVhaingaroa Highway Board re the amount Of a loan of £150 be replied to, and that their request be granted. Accounts, —The following accounts were, passed for payment Murray and Spencer, £1 Bs;'. Survey Office, 7s 6d.; D. Grut, £1 10s; A. Crawford, 12 b; G. £13 16s (id ; Philip Bros., 19a 2d ; Cr. J. K. McDonald, £9 14s; Cr. J. Brooks, £1 10s.
