Auckland, Friday. Thk R.M.S. Zealandia arrived this evening from 'Frisco. The English footballer* proceed in her to Sydney, leaving here at 2 a. in. to-morrow. The total takings at yesterday's football match was £585. The Englishmen's proportion of the two day's gate money was t'liljO.
Tha want of elKcieut accommodation at tlio Refuge was shown to-day in a painful manner. Two wretched old man utterlyunable to do manual labour, were charged at the Police Court with vasraney. Seret. Pratt said the men were fit only for the Refuge, but the institution was full, and the only other place was the gaol. The sitting justice accordingly sent them up for three month's each.
