EARTHQUAKES IN THE SOUTH.
(liV TELEGRAPH. —I'KKSS ASSOCIATION.) Blknhkiu, Monday. Two shocks fit earthquake occurred this morning at 8 and S.lB. The second shock was very severe and houses wore shaken and windows rattled, but no damage reported. Nelson, Monday. Two earthquake shocks were felt at 8.15 a.m. thi* morning, the second being the severest experienced for some years. I'atka, Monday. Two shocks of earthquake were felt this mornintr. The earth wave was apparently from N.E. to S.W. Nkw Plymouth, Monday. The earthquake this morning was only slightly felt here. There were two shocks. WksTPOHT, Monday. Two earthquake shocks were felt at 8.10 this morning. CnnisTCHURCH, Monday. The earthquako was slightly felt hero and at Kaiapoi at about 8.15 this morning. Wellington, Monday. Two shocks of earthquake were felt at about 8.15 this morning, with an interval of about 3mins. The second one was long and severe, accompanied by a vory distinct rumbling. It was also felt at I'almerston North and Havelock.
