CRIMINAL ASSAULT.

A .man named Hetiry Palmer was arrested fur committing an indecent assault last Saturday on a little girl seven years of agp, the daughter of a respectable farmer at Hautapu. At the Police Court at Cambridge yesterday, before Messrs Clements and Russell, J.P.'s, Henry Palmer pleaded guilty to a charge of vagrancy, and was sentenced to a month's imprisonment with hard labour. The prisoner was found upon the premises of Thomas Wattan, of Hautapu, where he entered an empty house by getting through the window. He was then charged with indccently assaulting a little girl, tho daughter of Mr Thomas Wattan, but as it would bo necessary for Mr Kirk, the magistrate's clerk, to ba present to take depositions, tho case was adjourned until 11. o'clock this morning.
