EXTRAORDINARY RELIGIOUS MANIA IN ADELAIDE.
• Ckkat {■■.witi.'iiioiit is being caused in Adelaide in religious circles (says an cxi'haiiKL , ) by tlic outbreak of an extraordinary creature, who insists in perambulating the thoroughfares in it sky-blue out, white wui-teoat and gloves, and kuoe-bivcclies, asserting that lib is Jesus who has come back to tlie earth again for t!ie solvation of a sinful world. His wears large bunches of (lowers all
over his clothes, as well as on his hat, which is of the bush type, and covered with a green gauze veil. He appears quite harmless, but, is provocative of much unintentional blasphemy on the part of the small street boys, who follow his rapid march and address him in jocular terms by his self-assumed title. He has
ulruady got a considerable number of followers in the suburbs and west end, and an amalgamation is contemplated between them and the rising sect of the Seventh Day Christians, whose speciality is knocking off work on Saturday, which they hold to be the real Sabbath As they also keep the conventional Sunday out of deference to public opinion, they make a clear gain of one holiday a week. It is a'so considered very probable that the " hard-bake Christians," a popular sect, so called from certain pronounced views which they hold in reference to a future life, will also join the Church of Cliristus Redivivus, as he is generally termed. It is not very long since tbh interesting individual entered the City Police Court one morning, and urged his claims to the Messiiihsliip in eloquent accents, but the magistrate refused to be converted, and he was removed. Shortly after this he caused some excitement by appearing on 'change and preaching vigorously against share-dealing, or to use his own words, " Pitting Scripture against scrip." The brokers promised to call the new mine
after him, and he went away apparently pleased. Fortunately, his appearauce does not create tho excitement it would in any less religions city than Adelaide.
