OHINEMURI.
Mouk English Capital.—The topic of the week has been the filiating in London, by Mr Edward Kersey Cooper, of the Jubilee Special Claim, at Waitekauri. The mine has been placed on the London market by Mr Cooper, for £100,000 and £1000 in cash, has been placed to the credit of Mr JO M. Corbett, the local manager, to immediately commence proceedings on the mine, It is also stated that a sum of £000 lias been received for the 10 tons ore sent Home by the " liangitikei," in February last. The mine itself comprises 100 acres, for which a clear title has been granted by the Warden to Mr Cooper. Messrs Cockwood and .Tames MacGnire, of Ohinenmri, are the only two New Zealand promoters and it is said that Messrs Prenters and Co.. the gun cotton, and explosive manufacturers, of London, are the prime movers in the matter. Description ov the Ore.—As regards the bona fides of the mine which has been reported before in our columns there is no doubt that it is a genuine concern. It is chiefly comprised in a large gully literally one mass of broken and decomposed ore which is quite unique ill Ohinemuri. It appears to have been the result of some local cataclysm which lias brought down a tremendous outcropping lode, shattering it into large and small boulders and depositing the entire mass in this gully. There are many years work in sight, and if the general dirt goes from 15dwts. to 2. r idwts. as it appears likely to do by tests which have been made, it will change the aspect of the entire district. Pegging oit More Ground.—'Tho Eclipse claim, which, under the name of th# Saxon Gold and Silver Mining Company, is now under otter to a Sydney syndicate adjoining the claim and shares in its advantages. Since the floating has become known a large amount of. pegging off has boen done on the field. There is little new to report from Waihi or Karangahake in mining. The Southern people are doing good work in the claims recently bought bj r them at Karangahake, and the shows in the Woodstock and Kenilworth still continue good. Mr U. Vksey Stewart.— A cable has beea received here from Mr George Vesoy Stewart, which has since been confirmed by a letter, stating that that gentleman is immediately leaving England for New Zealand, where he intends to devote himself to the development of local mining proparty, Mr Stewart has succeedel in forming a most powerful syndicate in which the name of Baring Bros, appears. F CUT 11 EH Findh,—Another find is announced to the cast of Marototo, whero coarse gold is said to bs obtained freely from the reef by tho dish. Three leases have been applied for.
