" Pirate " B.vr.L. —What may be called the Kill of the year was hold hore in the Volunteer Hall on Monday evening. It was the msst successful affair of the kind held in the district for a long time. Some short time since the Alexandra members of the "Pirate Band" gave a ball to the Ta Awamutu members of the company, and the Te Awamutuites returned the coniplw inent to the Alexandrians—one of whom by the way is ourprima donna. Invitations were issued to a great many besides, most of which were accepted, 120 ladies and gentlemen being present, Cambridge, Alexandra, Paterangi, Rangiaohia and Kihikihi being well represented. The Theatre Royal Company display a commendable amount of energy, as well as talent, /wid if their success as "Pirates of thft deep blue" is to be gnaged by their success as hosts their performances, the first of which takes place in Alexandra on 21th inst., should leavo nothing to be desired. An excellent supper prepared by the ladies waa provided, and if onq is to judge by the attention paid to that part of the ovening's entertainment, it gave unqualified satisfaction. It was the best compliment that eonld be paid to the culinary skill of the ladies. The music was provided by the hostesses and soino of tho lady visitors who very kindly assisted. On the back of each programme was neatly printed, "Theatre Royal Company." A word of warning to the aforesaid company. Yon have been successful as performers of Tableaux, equally so as bouts aud hostesses, your piratical proclivities are tending in the sumo direction, now uuu't let such a series of triumphs turn yoiu , heads and induce you to. cqsny the dangerous feat of walking upon air.
