Tin: affection of dogs or even of lions, for their benefactors is a matter of every day occurrence, but that a bird of the air should change its habits in order to remain the constant companion of a compassionate kind hearted sailor is i|tiite a new fact in natural history- The pretty story, which is said to have occurred (jnite recently, runs thus : — "Captain (irapineyer, of the merchant Anna, sailed from Plymouth to Orocningen. and on leaving British waters found a pigeon, utterly exhausted fall down on the bridge of the vessel. It was carefully fed and tended, and by the time Großiiingen was sighted it had become quite domiciled on bosr<l. On landing the captain left the ship, and found, to his gre:»t surprise, that the pigeon flew beside him wherever lip went, and oven entered a coffee house beside its friend.
