DUTIES ON FRENCH WINES.
(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) London, April 24. M. Waddington, French Ambassador in London, has appealed to Huron De Worms and Lord Salisbury, protesting against the proposed tax ou bottled wines, and urged that the treaty existing between France and England in relation to the wine duties was most favourable to England, but added that if the proposed tax on bottled wines was insisted on by the English Government that the treaty would be terminated and reprisals might be looked-for.
