ORINEMURI.
The Mininc. "Boom "appears to be makiugfor Waitekiiuvi where several gentlemen interested in Sydney capital are pegging out large areasof ground. The general opinion of Waitekauri among those " that know, you know " is that it is far and away the best of all the local mining centres. It certainly has the best record, the Waitekauri mine alone having produced upwards of £80,000 worth of gold. It has been stated that tl is mine ha 3 been placed on the Sydney market with successful results. County Council.— The Ohinemuri County Council snt on Saturday last. A large number of road works were ordered to be done, and advertisements were ordered to be put in calling for applications from persons qualified to act as Foreman of Works at a salary of £110 per annum. The Thames Hakbour Board and River Control.—lt is highly probable that the recent agitation anent the extension of the limits of the Thames Harbour Boards, and jurisdiction to Ohinemuri and Piako will have the result of getting the Order-in-Council giving suchjrefoked. Mr Fisher, the Minister for Marine was here on Friday last, and expressed his sympathy with the residents of the place in the matter, stating that he would do all he could to assist them in removing the incubus. The Waiiji Gold Mining Company.— This Company does not appear to be making very great strides, nor do they appear to wish to hurry up matters much. The machinery of which about 120 tons have been landed as yet, is lying about the machine site, together with about 10,000 feet of timber. Not even the necessary excavations have yet been started, and at this rate there will not be anything in the way of gold returns for nine or ten months. More Enolihii Money.— Mr Argall, who came out some months ago to take charge of the Mammoth Mine at Karaugahakc for an English syndicate, has gone home to endeavour to place Woodstock, Kenilworth and Crown. Each of these mines are looking splendid, the Woodstock especially is showing really good ore. Fair. —A horse and cattle fair is to be held at Mackaytown, next month.
