THE GOLDFIELDS.
MORE NEW FINDS AT MAROTOTO. THE ASSAY: EXCELLENT PROSI'KCTS. [by TELEGRAPH—OWN COnt!KSI'ONDF.NT.] Pakkoa, Friday. Several more extremely good finds from the neighbourhood of Marototo are reDurtcd. One sample of ore brought into Paeroa was recently assayed by Mr 0. Rhodes, and gave a return equal to 27000zs of silver and 300ozs of gold to the ton ; value, upward of £2200 per ton. This was taken from a small lode about, seventeen inches through. In another portion of the Marototo Company's Prospectors' Claim the ore does not appear to be remarkably rich at first sight, little or no gold being visible. It is rumoured also that that another find has taken place nearer to Waitekauri, where a number of prospectors are at work. The Waitekauri district appears most likely to be the scene of the coining boom, judging from the large areas that are being pegged out.
