In" consequence of tlie determination of the Irish Nationalists to hold proclaimed meetings, a large body of police and troops were held in readiness at Loughrea. O'Brien had a meeting, but it was dispersed, and thirty persons injured. Tanner eluded the vigilance of the police and troops, and addressed a meeting outside Macrooui at six o'clock in the evening, but the crowd upon entering the town were charged and dispersed. In other parts of Counties Glare and Cork conflicts occurred, and many injuries were sustained on both sides. Quiet was restored by the evening. Dublin, April 9. Messrs Redmond, Crilly, and Davitt, M.P.'s, also attempted to hold meetings in dillerent parts of the country to prove the vitality of the National League. No fatalities are reported in connection with the recent attempts to hold meetings, but several people were seriously hurt by the sabres of the cavalry. At Ennis the Hussars drove the pep.ple before them, singing "Rule Britannia."
