Spirited Competition. London, April (i. —At the wool sales 32,500 bales have been catalogued, of which 1500 were withdrawn. The bidding was spirited, and good sales were e fleeted, but there was no quotable change in prices as compared with the closing rates in February. Good sound merinos are unchanged, medium and inferior halfpenny lower ; good greasy sorts are very firm ; medium and inferior unchanged; finer cross-breds tirm, but the lower qualities are from par to halfpenny lower than in Feb ruary. The N.Z.L. and M.A. Co., Limited, report under date London, April 5:—Wool: The sales opened to-day at the level of last sales, except faulty scoured ; scoured and crossbred, market easier. The attendance of home and foreign buyers is good. Competition by both home and foreign buyers is fairly active. The sales comprise about 313,000 bales, of which 51,000 have been sent to manufacturing districts direct.
