In Melbourne a mass meeting of railway hands was held, who protested against Alison Smith's administration, accusing him of causing accidents, by altering the balancing of elm wheels, and viewing his retention in i-ervico with alarm. They demanded that a board of experts be appointed to enquire into his fitness for his position.
